1What CCPA is. California residents get rights over their personal information (PI). PI = broad: non-public info that can reasonably be linked to you.
2Your PI will be shared with agents, the MLS, real estate websites, service providers, lenders, title and escrow — usually needed to finish the deal.
3Covered businesses must give notices and honor rights. Not every business is covered.
4Some PI must be kept even if you ask otherwise. Brokers and MLSs keep records 3 years.
5To use your rights, contact each business directly. More info: cppa.ca.gov.
6Limits of this advisory. It does not meet legal duties by itself. Ask your broker whether the law applies. Broker does not control other businesses.
